October 2018 - Appraisals at the Armadillo

Heather, Tom, and I had some very interesting & varied pieces to appraise in our October Appraisal Show at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall in Denver. People in the metro area brought in heirlooms and pieces that they had acquired at auction and estate sales, and not surprisingly Heather, Tom, and I had differing opinions about some of the values. Take, for instance, a floor lamp whose base was 4 cattle hooves! I'm not kidding. Tom & Heather loved it and thought it was worth $400. I didn't. Other interesting items were a '30s oil by Alfred Wands, but it wasn't a Rocky Mountain landscape; it was a Cleveland harbor scene. There was a Limbert bicycle chair designed by Charles Rennie McIntosh, and many other antiques. How would you have appraised these pieces?
