How To Clean A Nitro RC Car

Cleaning this RC car because it had dirt from it being ran in 2008 or 2009. Needless to say it had a considerably amount of oil, fuel, dirt, and sand packed onto it. Simple green made this job easy.
1) Plug all the holes, Intake, exhaust, make sure the fill for the tank stays closed. For this I used some Vinyl Tube End Caps. I used a 3/8" one for the exhaust, the intake cap was a plastic one I had laying around, but a 1/2 or 5/8 vinyl cap should work.

2) Remove the Wheels. Most wheels have foam inserts in them. We do not want the foam in the wheels to get wet.
3) Blow it off with compressed air. This gets the loose stuff and parts off the car. It also helps the Simple Green to penetrate down through the dirt.
4)Spray it down with Simple Green and Scrub with a short brush, tooth brush, potato brush
5) Rinse it off with a soft stream of water. DO NOT BLAST IT
6) Since the plastics will not be super shiny like they were new. Give the car a light misting of WD-40 and blow off. Maxima SC1 or GT85 can also be used to bring the luster back to the plastic parts.
