Scientists have recently noticed a "crack" in the mirror: Earth’s hemispheric symmetry is fading, and the consequences could be global. For decades, the North and South reflected sunlight equally, but new NASA satellite data shows the Northern Hemisphere is now darkening faster due to melting Arctic ice and reduced air pollution.
