Dancemania Speed 6 (HQ, HD, High Quality)

Dancemania Speed 6 uploaded in the highest quality possible.

A truly fantastic album. Coming out in March of 2001 in time with DDR 5th Mix, this album is one of the last of the "old" generation of Dancemania, which presents it as a gateway to what's coming next. More "Trance"-like songs begin to dominate Dancemania, and Trance Ravers (bolstered by the release of Dancemania Speed 7) will come out in late 2001. As such, this album contains the classic Dancemania Speed sound and says its goodbye to many hardcore artists while also introducing some new styles of Speed. The obvious transition is the cover art: An anime style Speed Girl is introduced to us, in hopes of giving the popular Speed Series its own unique icon instead of the wiggly "Dancemania Man" present in every other series. It could be seen as an akin to Dancemania Bass, which features plenty of women in revealing positions as the "signal" of Bass. Unfortunately, fans at the time despised it, and Speed Girl is never seen again, with Dancemania Speed 7 switching back to the "zooming Dancemania Man" style.

This is the final appearance, at least in a main series album, of E-Logic, Triple J, and Stealth. Two new artists are introduced for Speed: S&K of Get Up 'N Move fame and LED Records, who bursts onto the scene with new Speed queen Judy Crystal. While she's had some brief success in DanceManiaX, she would really become popular with 5th Mix's release in a couple weeks and her appearance on J*Paradise as well as Happy Paradise 2, who would license her into DDRMAX and DDRMAX2. LED Records will be here to stay until the very end of Dancemania Speed, while S&K ends their brief Speed career with a Speed cover of their most famous song in Speed 10. What's more, DJ Kambel shows that he is here to stay with his trance-hardcore track "Blue Fever", which will be popular enough to get onto Dancemania Speed G.

Speaking of Speed Queen, Jenny Rom comes into her own as a SAIFAM fixture on this album. The great success of www.blondegirl (Momo Mix) prompted SAIFAM to turn Jenny from "just another SAIFAM girl singer" to a fast paced hapicore girl with her own unique lyrics and song style. Jenny Rom would not only become integral to the DDR experience starting in DDRMAX, but become a selling point on every main series Dancemania Speed album from here on out, with a new Jenny Rom songs for every new album, even "Best Of" albums! She would get 2 songs in Speed 7 and an astonishing 3 songs of her very own on Speed 8.

Another establishing feature is Ventura aka Quiqman, who appeared with a couple songs on Dancemania Speed Best 2001. He gets 2 more songs on this album, which is quite impressive as he also provided a few songs for J*Paradise, which came out slightly before. He will become a major player in the Dancemania Speed series, contributing a song here and there until he finally gets to spin off the series into "Anime Speed".

As this album is doing the busy job of transitioning from old to new, introducing new artists while contributing major hits from the ones leaving, it plays it quite safe on a lot of songs, and is therefore seen as "light". Only 3 of its songs made it onto Dancemania Speed G, and many fans think it is lacking. However, I personally think it is absolutely one of the greatest albums in the entire series of Dancemania. It does so much in just one album, from its brave art style change to its farewells to its re-establishing of successful hits to its introduction of new artists, all alongside the usual suspects of main series KCP remixes, interesting CJ Crew covers, and plenty of "real hardcore", that it speaks a lot in just 1 hour and 7 minutes. I would highly recommend you give this one another listen.
