Minolta AF 80-200mm F2.8 HS APO G: Lens Review/Test

Considered by some as one of the best autofocus lenses Minolta ever made, I show the lens in depth, up close and test the resolution, vignetting, distortion and rendering on this one time premium pro level lens.

Does the Minolta deserve it's reputation? The reality is, despite being from the 90's the optical performance of the lens is stunning even in 2020, with super smooth background blur, biting resolution wide open across the range. Of course there are some limitations, which I also discuss in this video. Being a G series lens, at the time it was released it fit in the pro level range, at a high cost. Today it's relatively affordable on the used market. The lens remained in production from 1993 until after 2000 (exact date unknow but probably past 2004/2005)
