BEE the Answer | Micah P. Becker | TEDxWolcottCollegePrep
I got an invitation from my father to join him in his new beekeeping hobby. It provided me with a whole new passion buzzing in my life. When I looked beyond the honey and that fashionable bee suit, the bees taught me how we humans impact the world. We are also putting a risk to their extinction. In my talk, I will describe the threats to the bees, make a case for why we need to make more adaptive choices and offer some ideas for how each of us can make a difference in our corners of the world. Micah Becker is a Sophomore at Wolcott College Prep. She is new to the TEDx stage. Micah is the middle child with four siblings and lives with her family in Chicago. She is a gourmand of great foods. Micah is founding member and current captain of the school’s tennis and badminton teams. Leadership is a central theme of Micah’s life, whether in her family, school, or working to make the world a better home for all of us. She loves animals, especially her dog, cat, and all 10,000 of her buzzing bees. Everything Micah tackles gets others buzzing to make a change through her passionate example and hands on engagement. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
