Argentina: Maradona "having a good post-operative period" - doctor

The personal doctor of former football legend Diego Armando Maradona, Leopoldo Luque, gave an update about the Argentine star's condition, from the Buenos Aires clinic where he was convalescing, on Friday.

"Diego is having a good post-operative period, his neurological evolution is very good," said Luque.

"He is already awake but he continues with that initial intravenous sedation that takes a little time for the body to eliminate it," he added.

Maradona's former doctor, Alfredo Cahe, reassured that the football legend is "sleeping, resting, serene."

Jana Maradona, daughter of the former captain of the Argentine national team, was seen leaving the Olivos clinic after having visited his father.

Maradona, current coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata team, is recovering from the brain surgery that he underwent on Tuesday and is expected to remain hospitalised until at least Monday.
