Stop Vibe Coding Now.

Last year a mate broke his own business for 48 hours.
With one AI prompt.

He built a connector.
Software that sits between his e-commerce website and his accounting software.
Prompted the whole thing to life.

Two thousand lines of code later.
He had a working app.
That's a lie. He had an app.

Built entirely without thinking through any of the following:
The data transformations.
The edge cases.
The logic that makes the data mean something on the other side.

He told the AI “move this to there.”
The AI did that, filling in all the gaps it didn't understand by doing what it thought made sense.
Then he shipped it. Into production. Mid-business.

It broke.
Data scrambled for two days.

So naturally came to me for help.
But naturally, after the two gruelling hours it took him to build this thing.
Keep the 2,000 lines, just fix it.

It really didn't take me long to figure out it needed an entire rewrite.
Instead of doing it for him, though, I actually showed him how to use AI to learn it himself.

He mapped the logic, understood it, and backward-engineered the code himself.

First time: two days instead of one hour.
Next app: a day.
Then half a day.
Then three hours.

I think this is the opportunity a lot of people are missing.
Slowing down to let AI teach you isn’t slower.
It compounds.

He didn’t just fix an app, he learned to break down a problem, spec it, and build it himself.

That used to take weeks or months.

I like to think of prompting as an execution layer, but never as a thinking layer.
It's not meant to steer the boat. That's still your job.
But it's going to help you get to the result a lot faster than you ever could before AI existed.

Use it to get smarter.

Next time you do something, Claude or the AI you use, ask it to teach you the thing you're asking it to do.
Use this as an experiment to both learn and do at the same time.
