Padmashri Dr. K. M. Cherian , chairman and CEO of international centre for Cardiothoracic and Vascular diseases( a unit of Frontier Lifeline and Dr. K. M. Cherian heart foundation) . He is the founder of various institutes including madras medical mission, Pondicherry institute of medical science. He has served as the honorary surgeon to the president of India. He is the first Indian whose name is engraved in one of the stones in Kos island, Greece, the birth place of medical professional, Hippocrates, the "father of medicine". He is the first to carry out a successful coronary artery graft in India in 1975 and to carry out the first internal mammary artery graft in the county in 1976. He is the recipient of numerous awards, he being the recipient of first indo Australian award. He has also recieved awards like international medical and excellence award, by Harvard international, lifetime achievement awards.
