Borewell Land- The great country of groundwater

India is THE nation of groundwater. With 30 million bore-wells and over 250 cu. km of groundwater being drawn in a year, this by far beats the second best nation by a mile.
From the manufacture of rigs , to the identification of the point for drilling, the actual drilling itself and the3 servicing with electricity and pumps is all done by the private -mostly informal- sector .
Here is a documentation of how a bore-well was drilled in hard rock with mostly highly skilled but untrained (in the formal sense) team over 2 days . They went to a depth of about 950 feet for this.
