Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday is one of the most iconic Sundays during the entire year. Not only do Catholics often process into the Church with palms on Palm Sunday, but we read about Jesus' procession into Jerusalem in the Gospel reading.

But, why did the Jewish people lay down specifically palm branches before Jesus and why are they shouting Hosannah in the Highest? What would that have meant?

Check out this video with Dr. Brant Pitre where he covers these two topics for Palm Sunday.
