Third Party Inspectors: 'Pros' or 'Cons'?

Brett Davis, Founder and CEO of National Indoor RV Centers, is a huge supporter of third-party inspections because he likes the idea of a “checker checking the checker”. However, not all third-party inspectors are created equal.

Watch Brett & Angie discuss how National Indoor RV Centers continues to revolutionize the RV industry with transparency and accountability.

NIRVC's PDI checklist is 94 items long: the chassis inspection is 17 items, and the house inspection is 77 items. The 94-item checklist of our PDI is simply the time spent inspecting and testing systems and components. Our 94-point PDI checklist does not cover what we find on our road test or putting a coach up on lifts. It also does not include the time we spend replacing or repairing what we find from our 94-point checklist and road test.

As you research which third-party inspector to hire, here’s a list of common red flags that NIRVC has identified to help protect our customers from unscrupulous inspectors:

X The inspector is not insured or bonded
X No manufacturer or component certifications
X Requiring you to pay travel expenses
X The inspector does not test drive the unit
X The inspector does not hook up the coach to city water (which is available on NIRVC properties)
X The inspector’s report is dozens to hundreds of pages long (designed to hide the lack of meaningful content)
X The report feels like nothing more than pictures and cleaning complaints
X The inspector insist on performing inspection prior to dealer’s PDI
X Adverse interests to coach buyer
X YouTube Inspectors

** Remember, at the time of a third-party inspection, the coach is either owned by NIRVC OR a consignor trusting NIRVC with their property. In order to protect NIRVC, our customers, and our consignors, please find a list of third-party inspectors permitted on NIRVC’s properties (as well as those who are not), on our website at:: https://nirvc.com/thirdpartyinspections
