Assos, Greece

Difficult to reach by Land and offering only a small amount of anchorage space, The charming hamlet of Assos sees only a few tourists and yet was one of the most beautiful and peaceful destinations we visited on our sailing trip around the Ionian sea! Harbor side cafes served delicious local fare and short walks offered charming views of colorful architecture perched around the small bay.
Assos is watched over by the ruins of a Venetian fortress built in 1595. Views from the top are spectacular with soaring cliffs towering over the western coast of Cephalonia and the sparkling blue waters of the Ionian sea. It is truly a destination not to be missed on any excursion to the Islands of the Ionian.
