Mark Eaton (16pts/13rebs/10blks) vs. Bulls (1986)

What a game by Mark Eaton! The two-time defensive player of the year protects the rim numerous times in a Utah Jazz victory after not even being expected to play due to a hamstring injury. Eaton still gave it a go after a visit to a chiropractor earlier that day in Chicago and absolutely surprised Hot Rod Hundley with his readiness to contribute.

The several blocks notwithstanding, Mark Eaton deterred a whole of Bulls buckets and most notably stopped Michael Jordan in his tracks more than a couple of times. All of the fine defensive play throughout the game culminated with a clutch block and steal during the last minute which helped Utah pull off the road win.

The basketball-reference boxscore credits Eaton with 9 block shots but for completely selfish reasons I chose to agree with the Utah Jazz broadcast crew which claimed that Eaton rejected 10 shots and recorded a triple double. And, to be fair, I do think there are 10 plays on which credit is due for a blocked shot (the MJ air-ball at 1:50 is probably the one which could be counted and could not be as well). December 20, 1986.
