List your products for free on Google Shopping tab (US only)

With Google Announcing it’s free listing over Google Shopping tab, a lot is going on inside the market. Media houses keep stares at the next big step that might get announced, and the BIG players in the market are keenly analyzing the strategy hidden behind this move.

From 2012, the only visible listings on the #GoogleShopping tab were the paid ones. But, giving SMEs and individual sellers a breath of relief, Google will now allow organic listings to surface on the Google Shopping tab.

Bill Ready, President of Commerce, Google, released a blog on the 21st April, which read, “In light of these challenges, we’re advancing our plans to make it free for merchants to sell on Google. Beginning next week, search results on the Google Shopping tab will consist primarily of free listings, helping merchants better connect with consumers, regardless of whether they advertise on Google.”

Although this announcement is made initially for the sellers based in the US region, Google has also claimed that this feature will roll out for the rest of the world as the year unfolds. In addition, Google is constantly working with the existing partners that help merchants manage their products and inventory, including Shopify, WooCommerce, and BigCommerce, to make the eCommerce experience one of a kind.
This change is bringing along something for everyone-

-Sellers will experience great exposure and reach
-Buyers will have more stores and options to shop from
-Advertisers will have the chance to augment their paid campaigns

How can one enroll in this?

Well, the existing sellers need to make sure that they have activated the "Surfaces Across Google” feature from their #GoogleMerchantCenter. If it is not enabled, one can very quickly follow this navigation and can make it happen-

In the left navigation window, select: “Growth” -- “Manage Program” -- “Surface Across Google” - Activate it.

As for the New Users, Google says,

The program is open for the new sellers, and they do not need to tap into Google Ads in order to use this program. One can expect that Google is aggressively working towards the onboarding of sellers in the following months. Meanwhile, the new sellers can opt-in Surface Across Google during the Merchant Center Sign Up process and start creating product feed.”
