E Unit Cab Ride - Nashville & Eastern RR - New York Central E8

Take a short ride in the cab of E8 6902 on the Nashville and Eastern Railroad. The E unit is pulling this train from the museum to downtown Nashville, and then shoves back to the museum. Thomas the Tank engine is on the other end as part of the museum's Day Out with Thomas.

The locomotive is running slowly, but when it's on the museum's regular excursions it's often leading the trains at track speed.

The Tennessee Central Railway Museum offers excursion on the Nashville and Eastern Railroad. The NERR operates the portion of the Tennessee Central Railway that was taken over by the L&N when the TC failed in 1968.

The E8 was built for New York Central (4048), and went into Penn Central as part of the 1968 merger with the Pennsylvania Railroad. It later went to New Jersey Transit, before coming south to the New Georgia Railroad. It came to Nashville originally for the Broadway Dinner Train, which operated for many years on the NERR.
