Advancement in technology makes clinical education without a real patient POSSIBLE!

This first and only Virtual Reality (VR) slit lamp simulator in Hong Kong provides high resolution and close-to-real experience for students practicing their clinical skill sets.

Through video slit lamp setting, supervisors would know what students are looking at. Hence, timely feedback and guidance can be provided for their improvement.

Supported by the powerful system and database in this new simulator, students could practice hands-on slit lamp skills more efficiently without recruiting a "real" patient. Furthermore, the strong database allows students to expose to many more unusual cases.

Our teaching team expects that the development of new pedagogy with more VR tools would further enhance students' learning experience.

Here are feedbacks from some students about using simulators for preclinical training.
“Simulators provide many cases with different diseases which can't be seen in classmates.”
“More convenient as no need to recruit classmate as patient.”
“It can provide guidelines for starting up to practice a new technique. When we are not familiar with certain techniques, we may not know what to look for or perform the techniques.”
