Don't Blame On Me By The Ventures

The Ventures is an American instrumental rock band formed in 1958 in Tacoma, Washington. They have sold over 100 million records and are to date the best-selling instrumental band of all time. Their music has influenced countless guitarists, earning them the label "The Band That Launched A Thousand Bands." The Encyclopedia Britannica states that The Ventures "served as a prototype for guitar-based rock groups." Their first hit "Walk Don't Run" reached #2 on the U.S. charts in 1960 and became one of the most imitated hits ever. They followed with a string of hits including "Perfidia", "Lullaby Of The Leaves" and "Slaughter On 10th Avenue." In 1963 The Ventures had five LPs in the Billboard Top 100 of the albums chart at the same time. They had 38 albums that charted in the US, 6 of 14 singles making it into the Top 40 with 3 making it into the Top 10. They were the first act to place two different versions of the same song in the Top 10, with "Walk Don't Run '64" (#8). The Ventures rank as the 6th best pop album performer for the 1960s. They were associated with the surf music genre, though they are not, as popularly perceived, strictly a surf band. Their version of "The Theme From Hawaii Five-O" is especially popular with college and high school marching bands. Though their popularity in the U. S. waned in the 70s, they remain revered in Japan, where they still tour regularly. The Ventures were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. This selection appears in their compilation CD "Surfing" released in 1995.
