The St. Regis Langkawi - St Regis Pool Suite - Aug 2020

Langkawi Island isn't usually our go to destination in Malaysia. But since there isn't much choice to travel except for domestic destination, so we decided to give it a go.

There are only 4 Marriott branded properties on the island. This is the first of 3 we are doing for this trip. The last time we were at the St. Regis Langkawi, it was just a couple of months after they open their doors. So it has been a while since we actually stayed here.

To our surprise, occupancy during our trip was very high. A few factors to take into consideration. Langkawi Island depended a lot on foreign tourist. As borders are still closed today, a significant drop on the average rates. Which we think it is perfect for locals to steal a good deal. As far as pricing, Langkawi saw the most significant reduction on their rates in the country. It would be the perfect timing to explore the island.

To give a summary of the experience, the service is quite amazing compared to the last time we were here. Great elite recognition, the on property staffs and management team is on point. Butlers team improved significantly. A lot of times they have gone above and beyond. There are still a lot of familiar faces around that made our stay even sweeter. We had stayed in during our trip, the staffs on the F&B team were on point. But we do kinda realize that the taste of the food (I know this is a very subjective point of view) wasn't as good as it use to be. But it made up with the whole experience. The hard product of the suites and amenities in the resort are still good. Doesn't show any signs of aging just yet. It is kinda a replica of the St. Regis Bali. However for travelers that have been to St. Regis Bali, I believe we can say that no other property can actually challenge them in every aspects besides the Maldives. So it wouldn't be a fair review if we put them side by side as a comparison. It is still a beautiful property, however I do wish for more of their own identity.

A special shout out to the marcom team! Do say hi to Shin if you all are heading that way. She is beyond amazing. We officially dubbed her as the magic maker of the resort.

Do keep in mind that are two teams in place for the property. The off site team and the on site team. If y'all thinking of getting in touch with the property before the stay (which we all do), my advise from our experience is DON'T. The on site team would be well prepared. This is a St. Regis brand that is for sure. Expectations are definitely high up there. I was prepared to have a disastrous stay before arriving due to that. But once we were there, I have to say that the on site team are there to take things to the next level. I don't know, it feels like the offsite team weren't as open for a simple conversation. It kinda would dampen your excitement. But one thing for sure is the on site team is one stellar team ready to make your stay a wonderful one.

On the whole experience here, we would rate this property a 7.8/10. There are still a whole lot more they could do to be on the top. A beautiful property that is for sure without a doubt.
