Chicago Pride Fest remembers 50 years since the Stonewall Inn uprisings | Illinois #AmazingForAll

Chicago is one of the best places in the US on a normal day. But when Pride comes around, it transforms into a veritable LGBTI heaven.

Chicago Pride's theme was 'Stonewall 50: Millions of Moments of Pride.' The city remembered the Stonewall Inn riot that took place in New York City.

Chicago PrideFest, which celebrates its 19th year in 2019, is part of a two-day street festival that culminates in the parade.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot, the city's first openly lesbian mayor, led the festivities as a grand marshal.

The parade heads south through the city, through Chicago's 'gayborhood' Boystown – all just one street away from the lakefront of Lake Michigan.

Taking place in June every year, the city ignites for a month of love, acceptance, and unabashed celebration.

The parade marches through the city. The bars of Boystown and Andersonville fill with people partying. Chicago remembers those lost and cheers for those who are here.
