FIRST Boeing 747 Landing in Kelowna BC Canada

VP-BAT is a Boeing 747SP owned by the Government of Qatar and currently for sale. The 747SP was stored at the Bournemouth Airport in the United Kingdom for the last two years and was flown from Bournemouth to Kelowna via Shannon on May 18, 2018.

According to one source, CSDS Asset Management in Rolling Hills Estates CA USA will be the new owner of VP-BAT and should become N7477S soon. The 747 SP was flown to Kelowna for maintenance at KF Aerospace before the new owner takes over.

The Boeing 747SP (Special Performance) is the short version of the Boeing 747-100. The weight saved by the shorter fuselage permitted longer range and increased speed relative to the 747-100. Only 45 were built and less then 10 are still in service today.
