DAY 74 - 'THE PINK CITY' OF RAJASTHAN (JAIPUR)

DAY 74 - 'THE PINK CITY' OF RAJASTHAN (JAIPUR) // 23.12.2016

So this was our first official day in Rajasthan and it started off with the jaw dropping scenery of Jaipur. Which is known as 'the pink city'. It's name comes from the pink colour of most buildings that reside here. The reason? Back in 1876, the Maharaja at the time wanted to impress British King Albert who was visiting the region.

Amber Fort doesn't stand out because it is in fact yellow but because visiting here is like stepping back in time and the views are breathtaking. You can choose to ride an elephant to the entrance or you can walk. It took us about 15 minutes to walk and it was free (so no complaints).

In the afternoon we visited City Palace, but for us it didn't live up to the sheer WOW factor that Amber Fort had to offer.

Nonetheless, Jaipur is a very pleasant city. It is definitely less busy and you will feel immersed in the rich history that this city and this region has to offer.

Make sure to come back tomorrow, as we continue our journey through Rajasthan.
