Georgian Republican Party 'eats itself alive' with crucial Senate seats on the line

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine says “disunity is death” in American politics and the Georgian Republican Party is “eating itself alive” ahead of a pivotal Senate election scheduled on January 5.

“This is a longstanding problem in Georgia,” she told Sky News.

Ms Devine said the reason Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler didn’t win on November 3 was because the conservative vote was split between her and another colleague.

“We are seeing play out on the national stage what is an internal problem in the Republican Party of Georgia”.

“It’s a last-ditch hope that President Trump tonight finds some way of threading the needle and uniting Republicans."

Mr Trump returns to the campaign trail today in support of the two Republican Senators whose January run-offs will ultimately decide which of the two major parties will control the United States Senate.

According to Ms Devine, “if his base doesn’t get out and vote on January 5, then the Democrats will win”.

"That means Joe Biden will be pushed by the most progressive elements of the Democratic party to do these very radical things that will change the face of American politics forever."
