Yellow Power Ranger Trini Is Turned Into A Small Porous Cuboctahedron

After being set up in one too many perilous situations by nefarious prankster and potential evil mastermind Zordon, Trini decides to up sticks and ply her do-gooding trade on the final frontier. Unfortunately for her, she is assigned to the Enterprise under the command of Captain James Kirk, a shambolic womaniser who typically only puts up token resistance to alien threats until his officers come up with a course of action for him. This lamentable strategy leaves him notoriously understaffed, and Trini is one of many recruits drafted in to replace the dwindling number of redshirts and maintain the USS Enterprise. Like most female recruits, Trini is assigned to a position on the bridge, handling communications whenever chief communications officer Lieutenant Nyota Uhura is off-duty.

A diabolically-dressed but otherwise conveniently very human-looking alien called Rojan boards the Enterprise with some like-minded cronies, and takes control of the bridge, while Captain Kirk swivels in his fancy chair sulking. Rojan tells his lankiest crony to "start the neutralising operation", which is a bit cryptic to the bridge crew and anyone who hasn't seen the episode of Star Trek this is taken from. Kirk stands up and, rather than physically confronting the alien, nervously asks him about the neutralising operation. Rojan kindly stops being mysterious, and provides us with a generous portion of expository dialogue like a respectable villain. Slightly less kindly, he calmly announces that he will be "neutralising all non-essential personnel" because he's not only a powerful Kelvan, but also a casual misogynist. A feeble "no" is all the hapless Kirk can muster, shellshocked at the notion that he won't have any female staff to pull rank on. Trini attempts to reason with the Kelvan, but her efforts merely earn her the alien's attention. Rojan, now looking quite cosy standing there practically arm-in-arm with the ship's captain, looms over the power ranger, reaching for a device fastened to his belt which he points at her chest. Terrified, Trini tries to back away, but she's very sat down in a chair so that doesn't really work out too successfully for her, she can only really arch her back and grab at the control panel behind her. She turns to Kirk, who somewhat unhelpfully does nothing, gazing serenely off-screen awaiting his next line. She pleads with the dastardly alien, appealing to the only other being in the scene with a positive IQ, but he's obviously the bad guy and he knows a redshirt when he sees one, he's not fooled by that tight yellow spandex. He simply pushes the button on his belt device, which lights up rather like a cheap prop.

Trini's chest begins to undulate involuntarily. She instinctively tries to look down, but the lights on the belt device hold her gaze. Unable to move or speak, the forces controlling her begin to flow inward. Her mind races in fear and confusion as her limbs seem to contract into her body, fading into nothing. Her head and torso feel heavy, and are engulfed in a faint light, collapsing along with her paralysed consciousness onto the seat of the chair. Where Trini once sat, all that remains of her is a small, white porous cuboctahedron.

Trini really can't catch a break. Will she be saved, or will she be trapped in this helpless form? Worse still, will she be restored to human form and be forced to work for Kirk again, doing that job telling the captain things he could easily hear himself if he just had the speakers turned on? Will Kirk make her wear that ridiculously short redshirt dress that shows way too much leg when sat down in? Is Rojan really even the villain here? Maybe he's trying to save the female crew from the real misogynist?
