Life at Palmer Station, Antarctica

Living in Antarctica is like living on a different planet. It's the craziest place on earth, but you'd be surprised how many people don't know even the basic facts about Antarctica. When I was getting ready to leave on this trip, I wouldn't stop talking about Antarctica to my friends. Their first question was usually, "is that the one at the north pole or the south pole?" The second question was, "are you afraid of polar bears?"

No one ever really learns about Antarctica in school, but they should! Antarctica is an alien planet that you can visit by boat.

I figured we should cover some basics. It doesn't make sense to learn about Antarctic research before we know if we're at the north or south pole. So without further ado, these are the basic facts people should already know about Antarctica.
