The Holbein Experiment Part 1: The Gesso Board

This is part one of an experiment where I research and try to copy the painting style and subject matter of the northern renaissance painter Hans Holbein the younger (1497-1543). In this video I prepare a wooden board with a traditional Gesso grounding to make the kind of surface Holbein would have painted his portraits on.
