The soldier forced to fight for 3 different armies #ww2 #history #shorts

Three armies. One soldier. Zero choice.

Yang Kyoungjong didn't choose a single army he fought for.

He was Korean — born under Japanese occupation. In 1938, Japan conscripted him into the Imperial Army and sent him to fight in Manchuria.

In 1939, the Soviets captured him at the Battle of Khalkhin Gol. They conscripted him into the Red Army.

In 1943, the Germans captured him on the Eastern Front. They conscripted him into the Wehrmacht.

In June 1944, wearing a German uniform on a beach in Normandy, he was captured by American paratroopers on D-Day.

Four captures. Three armies. Three empires. None of them asked.

Yang Kyoungjong survived the war. He emigrated to the United States and died quietly in Illinois in 1992 — a man who'd worn the uniform of every major army in the conflict except the one that ultimately set him free.
