Houdini’s Legendary Life and his McGill Connection
Ask anyone to name a magician and they will inevitably come up with Houdini. Indeed, Harry Houdini is one of the most famous entertainers of all time, but his contributions were not limited to the stage.
He was a staunch supporter of critical thinking and a fierce opponent of charlatans. One of his most famous talks to students about differentiating fact from fancy was delivered at McGill University in 1926 – and, in a curious way, this led to his demise.
To find out more about Houdini’s surprising McGill connection, tune into this webinar with Dr. Joe Schwarcz on the life of this performer extraordinaire and his lesser known career as a nonsense debunker.
This webinar is organized in collaboration with the McGill's Office for Science and Society (OSS).
