Israeli airstrikes kill two Palestinian journalists in Gaza

On Monday, Israeli airstrikes in Gaza resulted in the deaths of two Palestinian journalists, further intensifying concerns over the safety of media professionals in the region.

In the southern city of Khan Younis, an Israeli airstrike targeted the home of Mohammad Mansour, a correspondent for Palestine Today. The attack killed Mansour, along with his wife and child. Their bodies were transported to Nasser Hospital for funeral arrangements, and later, amidst profound grief, laid to rest by their family.

In northern Gaza, another airstrike claimed the life of Hossam Shabat, a journalist working with Al Jazeera Mubasher. Witnesses reported that Shabat’s vehicle was struck in the eastern part of Beit Lahia.

These incidents have raised the total number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to at least 208, according to local authorities.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) has condemned these killings and called for an independent international investigation into whether the journalists were deliberately targeted.

The Israeli army has not issued any official comments regarding these specific incidents. These events underscore the increasingly perilous conditions faced by journalists operating in conflict zones and highlight the urgent need for measures to ensure their safety.
