Why The INFJ Defies Every Social Category. While most people use their gender, age group, race, economic status to excuse and explain whatever is happening in their life, INFJs believe their social category has nothing to do with their decisions, attitudes, and accomplishments. Here are ten reasons why the INFJ defies every social category.

One problem outside observers like INFJs have noticed is that social categories sometimes distort people's perceptions to the point that they exaggerate the differences among social groups and individuals. At the same time, people also tend to perceive the members of a particular group as more similar to one another than they really are. Upon knowing all of that, INFJs have always refused to identify themselves with the people around them, especially those they closely associate with. Just because they fit in a particular age group doesn't mean they're still immature or incapable. Likewise, just because they are introverts doesn't mean they're shy. If there is one thing INFJs get extremely annoyed at, it is how people carelessly define things and associate concepts.

Aside from discrimination, prejudice, and stereotyping, there are many other dangers INFJs have sensed when they abide in social categories. As an INFJ, what other factors have drawn you away from social categorization? But do you also believe in the benefits of categorizing people?
