Dehydration in vulture and its treatment.

Rehabilitation of any injured wild animal is honourable and laudable activity. The recuet accept the responsibility of ownership for the animal ensuring that all necessary treatment and care is provided to optimise its potential release back into the Wild. It is vitally important whenever possible that one works closely with a local veterinary surgeon who is prepared to aid and support when necessary. A vulture presented with the history of head droppings dull and depressed and unable to fly. Head dropping commonly a symptom of weakness and depression. Subcutaneous fluids are a more immediate way of delivering fluid than tubing. Subcutaneous fluid can be given over several body locations the most commonly used place are the inguinal folds ( the skin connecting on the inside the thigh, where the dorso meets the legs or between the shoulder blades where the wings joint the shoulder region. Atmosphere sterile solution like saline or ringers lactate.
For large vultures up to 120 ml saline can be given at one time over two or more locations i.e. 60ml in each in Inguinal fold. After three day consecutive fluid therapy vulture started eating on its own on 3rd day. After all clinical examination vulture found fit and healthy and release in their habitat.
