"For you are all sons of light. Walk as children of light” (1Thess. 5: 5; Eph. 5: 8; )
“Even the darkness cannot hide You, and the night is as bright as day” (Ps. 139: 12 )

Meditation:
Every plant turns to the light, desiring to receive from it fresh, life-giving strength.

At the window, in a patient’s room, there is a little flower; its delicate aroma spreads through the room, and the beauty of the flower and the fresh green leaves gladden the patient; its tender stem slowly, but persistently, turns again and again to the light, no matter what direction the pot is turned; it’s as if the plant refuses to turn to the gloomy side of the hospital room – it needs something else.

So let us also always reach for the light without dwelling on the gloomy side of life. No matter what grief strikes us, no matter what sufferings torment our soul, let us not be despondent, and always turning towards the light, let us draw fresh strength and new energy from it, in order to serve others, bringing them the light and warmth of our love and affection. And let us remember that the light is Christ Himself, Who has the same attractive force as the sun for a flower. He calls the soul out of darkness, and when it comes to Him, He pulls it ever more strongly and ever more closely to Himself, and leads it inseparably with Him, and, in turn, turns it into light, i.e., the reflection of His Light. “The darkness cannot hide Him” – the darker it is all around, the brighter is the light of Christ, and the soul, enlightened by Him, carries its light into dark places, and the darkness does not extinguish it, but disappears because of it.

День за днем. 22 апреля (5 мая)
«Ибо все вы – сыны света. Поступайте, как чада света» (1Фес. 5:5; Еф. 5:8)
«И тьма не затмит от Тебя, и ночь светла, как день» (Пс. 138, 12)

Каждое растение обращается к свету, желая получить в нем свежие, живительные силы.

Вот на окне, в комнате больного, стоит скромный цветок; нежный аромат его расространяется в комнате, красота цветка, свежая зелень листьев радует больного; нежный стебелек медленно, но настойчиво, оборачивается снова и снова к свету, в какую бы сторону ни поворачивали горшок; растение как бы отказывается повернуться к мрачной обстановке больничной комнаты, -- ему другое нужно.

Будем и мы,таким образом, всегда тянуться к свету, не останавливаясь на мрачной стороне жизни. Какое бы горе ни поразило нас, какие бы страдания ни терзали нашу душу, не будем унывать и, вечно поворачиваясь к свету, почерпнем в нем свежие силы и новую бодрость, чтобы идти на служение ближним, неся им свет и теплоту нашей любви и ласки. И будем помнить, что свет есть Сам Христос, имеющий такую же притягательную силу, как солнце для цветка. Он вызывает душу из мрака, и, когда она идет к Нему, Он влечет ее все сильнее, все ближе к Себе, ведет ее за Собою неразлучно и делает ее, в свою очередь, светом, т.е. отражением Его Света. «Тьма не затмит от Него» – чем темнее вокруг, тем ярче сияет свет Христов, и душа, Им просвещенная, несет светильник свой в темные места, мрак его не тушит, но от него рассеевается.
