The USOC's aggressive trademark protection is nonsensical and hurts its own athletes

Under Rule 40, the U.S. Olympic Committee bullies athletes and companies out of their right to free speech. The USOC aggressively protects its corporate sponsors' exclusive partnerships, to the point that other businesses can't use Olympics hashtags on social media or even acknowledge that the Olympics are happening at all. Meanwhile, athletes are forbidden from acknowledging the sponsors that made their Olympic dreams possible because the USOC didn't support their training. It's a shame that Team USA's priorities align with corporations more than the athletes who comprise it.
