Anti-lockdown demonstrators rallying for the removal of California Governor Gavin Newsom from office traded insults with Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters in Huntington Beach on Sunday.
COVID-19 sceptics not wearing face masks at the rally demanded Newsom to be recalled after he announced new restrictions following a recent spike in coronavirus cases.
A group of BLM activists was seen among the demonstrators holding banners against racism and police brutality.
"He shut us down for no reason. The science proves that this is a hoax, that this is political and that they are just shutting us down until the election," said Katie, a protester.
"I understand that he wants to keep people healthy, but not at the expense of everything else. We can't destroy our whole economy because of a small small risk," said Christine, another protester.
According to California Department of Public Health, more than 373,000 cases of COVID were registered in the state with nearly 7,600 deaths linked to the disease.
