Endurance Brothers: The First Ultra Marathon - Documentary

Felix and I were never world class in athletics or filmmaking, but we both have more than a passing interest in both. In January, while out for my Birthday drinks, we - along with Kurt, Charlie and Alex - committed to putting in some long term effort to combine the two.

The photos of me on the stretcher were taken by my dad. I was literally walking around after the crash, but the ambulance people insisted on the stretcher. It was weird but I guess it makes a funny story.

Dad also shot the footage of star track in 2001/2002? Not sure. Felix loved it there, but the only memories I have were of crying a lot and wanting to go home.

If you look closely at the final shot of Felix at SGS sports day 2011, you can see him preparing to flip his middle fingers to his competitors. I have a shot of it, but I thought I'd rather not incriminate him visually.

I included the opening shot of Line of Sight by Lucas Brunelle, which includes the title and creator, along with some footage of IndiPac legends Kristof Allegaert and the late Mike Hall which I took from the IndiPac Facebook page - hope that doesn't break any rules.

You can find the footage of me doing Deliveroo and riding to Edinburgh on my youtube channel in other less good, slightly cringey videos.

A big thanks to Alex Young (@adyvisual) for shooting most of the events (Slough 10k, Hillingdon crit, Bath half, and the Ultra Marathon) and lending us his zoom mic for the interviews.

A big thanks to Charlie Hood (@charliex2) for shooting my training footage from the open boot of Felix's car (the club I was riding with is called ThamesVelo, good folk for letting us get in the way/provide a good draft) Felix running in the snow, Felix running in the rain and Bath half.

A big thanks to Kurt Fry (@kurtfry_) for getting some cracking behind the scenes pictures and video that are all over my instagram.

A big thanks to dad (@jules_bailey_devon) for filming and converting the Star Track footage, coming to support and film the Tour of Flanders Sportive and the Ultra and generally being a good dad.

A big thanks to Florian Varga (@snapshot_flo) for shooting at the Ultra even though we forgot to use it. Also for getting naked for Felix when no one else would.

A big thanks to my girlfriend Ellen (@ellenball1) for filming me getting dressed before the sunrise (it was actually after sunset, hope that doesn't spoil the illusion) and supporting Felix at Brighton Marathon and my Hillingdon race.

And a big thanks to Jas (@jasleftley) for helping hold the boot of Felix's car open in order to prevent Charlie from dying, and for coming to support Felix at Bath half and Brighton Marathon.

The music used is all from the Youtube music library apart from "Sofi Needs a Ladder" by Deadmau5 during the paceline montage and "I Was Home" by Sunflower Bean that was used in the Belgium montage. Cracking tunes.
