If you have children- they have renovated and updated the park since I have last been. They have added a few new playground areas and electronic toys for children!!

Let me explain the thumbnail because I I know I will get some comments saying "but we do have this in the USA".

"Petting zoos" are quite different in the USA than in Germany. In a lot of German cities there will be certain attractions called "bergtierparks" (not to be confused with a zoo even though they have the same name). An animal park is usually an outside space where many animals are allowed to roam freely in their respective "areas". Some animals live in smaller cages and some animals live on large pastures but for the most part they are free to do and roam as they please- in a semi wild setting.

A lot of times in the USA we have zoos and petting zoos which are usually filled with exotic animals (baby panthers, baby lions, pigs, horses, alligators, monkeys and other exotic animals) in cages and for the patron's pleasure. There are also things such as pony rides/camel rides, baby panther pettings (at least in Florida) and the list goes on. The animals are lacking any type of wild living and are only used for entertainment gain with horrible living conditions (not always but very often).

When people visit me from the USA- I usually take them to a "berg"tierpark (not a zoo) of some sort because it is usually an amazing experience that we don't get to experience that often in the USA. I think the animals have it a little better in the German "berg"tierparks (not the zoos) than in a lot of American petting zoos.

and yes we do have similar things in the USA to this German "amusement" but growing up (along with many people I know) I have never personally experienced something like this. I have held alligators from alligator farms, held baby lions, played with caged panthers and the list goes on but never been to a place like this.

Regarding the lockdown rules- unfortunately I think they are only taking appointment only visits due to the inzidenzwert being over 50 :( sorry.
