Don’t Let Money Own You. Here’s Why

Our mindset around money has less to do with how much we have and a lot more to do with how we make it.

If too much money comes to you too quickly, like through an inheritance or winning the lottery, you don’t respect it and it will be gone before you know it. This is why a lot of athletes go broke. They think it’s a never-ending waterfall and they went from 0 to $$$ way too fast.

If it takes decades and thousands of hours of work for you to make $1M, you end up never spending it because it took so much time to make that money that it’s value is worth much more to you than the actual dollar figure.

You need figure out how to make money easily. Depending on what phase in life you’re in, you gotta ask yourself questions like: how do I maximize my rate? How do I add value to people who value their time? For example, we pay $15,000 for someone to decorate the inside and outside of our house for Christmas. They bring all the high-end lights, trees and decor and of course the labor. They set it all up and take it all down and take everything with them when the season is over. Worth every penny.

I consult for $2,000 an hour. Why do people pay this? Because I unlock tens and possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars for them through ideas and actions.

My keynote rate is 35K because of the value I bring on stage to the audience and I can help sell tickets.

I do not stress about money. Not because of how much I have, but because I have a healthy money practice and mindset. I know what I value, I know how to make money easily, and I know how to respect money. This is the work worth doing.
