Roth IRA is funded with after tax dollars -so not tax deductible, but at 59.5 all withdrawals are tax free! Contributions that have been in the Roth at least 5 years can be withdrawn without penalty - just not earnings.
Traditional IRA is a great way to also save for retirement while being tax efficient by using pre-tax payroll deductions to fund it, it will be taxed after years of growth but on your terms, so you can withdraw just what you need and target staying in the lowest tax bracket to fit your living expenses/lifestyle.
