'I Know Your Type' by English alternative rock power trio ::SEPTEMBRE::

Jacobs Studios, the Surrey residential recording complex, closed its doors for the last time in summer 2006. After almost thirty years in business, owners musician Andy Fernbach and his wife Fran sold Ridgway House and adjoining buildings and 20 acres of grounds as real estate. Among the final Jacobs were Bloc Party, Fightstar, Ian Brown, Paul Weller, Pulp, Daniel Beddingfield, Mansun, Placebo, David Bowie, Halo, Robbie Williams, Babybird, Kevin Roland, Primal Scream and the mighty REUBEN!

The Jacobs roll of honour over three decades makes impressive reading and includes : Stevie Wonder, U2, Radiohead, REM, The Mission, Robert Plant, The Cult, The Smiths, Status Quo, Def Leppard, Police, Gang of Four, Marc Almond, Psycic TV, Pavarotti, The Verve , The Cure, Charlatans, Echo and The Bunnymen,, Goldie, Bryan Adams, and many many more.

Legend has it that an over-refreshed Rick Parfitt of Status Quo once tumbled into the wrong studio by mistake and (briefly) sat in on a Smiths session.

'I Know Your Type' was recorded, along with 'What Goes Up', 'My Darkest Summer' and 'Perfect' - as part of an unreleased e.p (known as the Jacobs sessions) which was to serve as the follow up to the 'Rule 3: Conceal Your Intentions' e.p released on Sugar Shack Records.

Septembre went on to record prolifically during the mid 2000's at Whitfield Street studios, Island Studios, Ghost Studios and The Egg's House.

Then there's the unreleased, full length album- recorded at Indigo Ranch, nestled among the hills and canyons of Malibu, California. This musical testimony lies like a dust gathering time capsule of sonic majesty, produced by legendary Nu Metal architect Ross Robinson.

As one third of Septembre, I can honestly say, looking back, I have not been a part of such a musical force of nature that this band orchestrated and performed with- since or previously. Having played with numerous bands over the years, all with exceptionally talented individuals, and very much enjoyably, there was something truly majestic, truly other worldly about Septembre.

When the three of us septic amigos locked ourselves in a room and plugged in, we tuned in to a collective consciousness that roamed manically about it's own distinct musical landscape, one that danced on the lunatic fringes of intensity and madness, then swung dynamically in and out of contrasting peaks and valleys, weaving in and out of groove laden riffage and deep emotional melodies that defied genre labelling.

Drawing upon a plethora of integral and varied influences from Jane's Addiction, Stone Temple Pilots, A Perfect Circle, Deftones, U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Silverchair, NIN, Veruca Salt, Filter, The Black Crowes among many others, Septembre was the real deal, a heartfelt entity that evoked images of disillusionment, abandonment, deep emotional pain, frustration, loneliness; while simultaneously celebrating life's beauty and joyous euphoric highs. Unafraid to shoot straight from the heart with sonic balladry one minute, and the next- slicing your face off with seductively riffoliffic heavy grooves, searing battle cry's and rhythmical bludgeoning.

You know when you've locked into a sonic consciousness when no words are spoken, no communication necessary- just a channeling of musical energy that has its own demonic ideals, source and destination, we were merely the curators of a sound that came from somewhere attainable only by the three of us; plugged in, tuned in and dropped out, probably exclusively of that time and space... and probably peppered with the scent of green aroma... but I am thankful for the experience and that we captured some of the magic.
