Mid-Hants 2020 Autumn Steam Gala

The Mid-Hants Railway (Watercress Line) held their annual Autumn Steam Gala on the weekend of the 16th-18th October 2020. Guest star loco was LMS Jubilee class 45596 'Bahamas'. Special measures were put in place to allow the event to take place safely during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to maintain social distancing, visitors were limited to 500 people per day at the railway. All passengers had to book their tickets in advance, and each passenger was allocated a seat on a particular train. There were 3 carriage sets, each assigned a different coloured wristband. Only those passengers of the correct colour wristband could board each train. Face coverings were also mandatory while on the train and inside buildings. Overall the system worked really well, and the MHR should be commended for what as a very well organised event.
