Baghdwar | Shivapuri Peak | Nagi Gumba | A Perfect Hiking Route

The Shivapuri National National Park is only a few kilometers from the center of Kathmandu but feels a world away. The moment you step into the gates of the park you feel an increase in oxygen levels. You have to take a ticket to the entrance which will cost you Rs 100 for the day. A walk up to the Nainki Gomba Monastery is a great walk and if you are fit continuing up to the Bagh Dwar or even the Shivapuri peak is well worthwhile.
There are several accommodation options close to the National Park. The Shivapuri Heights Cottage is one of the better places with great views down into the valley and some comfortable and clean rooms and great food and staff. Well worth spending a couple of nights there and doing day hikes from there into the Park, They can also help with arranging local guides, etc. Definitely worth a visit if you are looking to get out of Kathmandu without going too far.
