The Gospel According to the Servants

In the parables of Jesus, the spotlight often shines on kings, landowners, or prodigal children—but what about the servants in the background? What if the real message of the Kingdom is being whispered from the margins?

This summer, we’ll turn our attention to the often-overlooked characters who quietly carry the weight of the story. These servants—messengers, caretakers, laborers, and witnesses, embody the very heart of Jesus’ teaching in Mark 9:35: “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”

With a basin and towel as our guiding image, we’ll explore how these hidden figures reveal a radical vision of greatness, humility, and the upside-down Kingdom of God. Come ready to see the parables in a new light—through the eyes of the ones we so often overlook.
