After many days of waiting for the Tesla Semi, according to a recent report, it's finally ready to hit the market this year. Tesla Semi promises to make a breakthrough in the truck industry. So what makes the Tesla Semi so perfect before it enters the market for use? Let's find out in today's episode!
Firstly, news about the Tesla Semi started heating up earlier in 2021, especially as updated prototypes of the vehicle were spotted across the country, possibly for testing.
According to reports at the end of March, Tesla was building a new production line for the Semi near its Gigafactory Nevada plant and it plans to produce five electric trucks per week.
Last year, Electrek reported that Tesla took over a large 500,000 or more square foot building in the industrial park where Tesla Gigafactory Nevada is located. At the time, this is an indication that it had to do with Tesla Semi production.
Now the building, which sits at 550 Milan Drive, next to another building used as a warehouse by Tesla, is housing a new production line for Tesla Semi currently being deployed by the automaker.
Reliable sources familiar with the matter told that Tesla is currently building a low-volume Tesla Semi production line in the building.
Once completed, they expect a production capacity of five Tesla Semi electric trucks per week.
Secondly, Tesla’s first-ever Semi ‘MEGACHARGER’ to be installed at Frito-Lay's Modesto plant
Tesla’s first-ever ‘Megacharger’ for the all-electric Semi will be installed at Frito-Lay’s Modesto, California plant, according to documents.
After being unveiled in NOVEMBER 2017, Tesla received hundreds of pre-orders for the Semi, its first all-electric commercial vehicle. Frito-Lay was one of the first, as its parent company, PepsiCo, reserved 100 Tesla Semis on December 12th, 2017.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Frito-Lay would be receiving 15 Tesla Semis before the end of 2021.
According to the sources, Frito-Lay is also plotting out some space for designated parking areas for the Tesla Semi.
It was revealed on MAY 22ND, by Drive Tesla Canada that Frito-Lay would be installing the first Megacharger on-site at the MODESTO facility.
