Ennis Commission considers removing mayor, police chief alleges harassment

In one of the fishing hubs of southwest Montana, a political controversy has boiled to the surface, and accusations are being flung left and right.

That’s because of a long-running feud between the Ennis Town Commission and the police chief, which began last year when the commission refused to approve their annual budget due to a dispute over a memorandum of understanding with the sheriff’s office, with the council urging for it to be approved and the police chief arguing that it was an unnecessary expense for taxpayers for services the county is already required by law to provide.
