DDJ-SB3 VS DDJ-400 (one of them disappointed me but...)

The DDJ-SB3 & the DDJ-400 are the premier beginner DJ controllers of the year. I’ve used and tested them ever since they came out. But in my experience of using them in my gigs, one controller stood out from the other.

But we’re gonna properly compare these two together in the categories that really matter in the real world; build quality & software features. Which controller provides the best value straight out the box?

Now I’ve been using the DDJ-400 and DDJ-Sb3 ever since they came out, and honestly, they’re both pretty similar.

What’s best for you, really comes down to what you need as a beginner DJ.

If you wanna just DJ right away, and use basic DJ functions, which 90% of all DJ’s in the world use, then I would suggest to go for the DDJ-SB3.

Down the line, when you get deeper into DJ’ing, you can always pay the premium and upgrade to Serato DJ Pro, which will open up a whole new world of features.

Out of the box, the DDJ-SB3 with Serato DJ Lite, is perfect for any beginner DJ eager to get started ASAP.

Now, if you’re more into features, functionality and value for money, the DDJ-400 with Rekordbox DJ provides more value for money right out the box.

The ability to record your mix, use all the functions labeled on your controller, beat jump, and more is amazing. But the ability to transfer your cue pointed songs and use CDJ’s with them is priceless. But all in all, you won’t go wrong going for either one. If I had to choose one controller though. It would definitely be the DDJ-SB3 BUT with Serato DJ Pro.

I would definitely pay the premium because it’s so worth it. Using the DDJ-Sb-3 with beat roll mode and beat slicer is so satisfying, and is what makes my DJ sets so fun to perform.
