How to Build a Fence (the easy way)
In this video I show how I built a new fence at the back of my garden. The total fence length is 8.2m including the gate which is 90cm wide.
I did it what I consider to be the easy way; using galvanised steel brackets, 4x4 posts, arris rails, feather board and gravel board (all pre treated wood).
I also used post crete which sets really quickly.
In total it took me about 1 1/2 days to build on my own including removing the old fence and building a custom gate (not in this video).
Some people like to use pre-made panels but I think this is more difficult if you don't have a specific length of fencing to do that is divisible by the size of the panels and I also think that feather board with rails looks better for the effort involved.
I bought nearly all my materials from Wickes in the UK.
I used:
4 x 2.4m 100mmx100mm posts
10 packs of 1.8m feather board
9 x 2.4m arris rails (some had to be cut down)
7 bags of post crete
18 x arris rail brackets (from Screwfix)
6 x gravel board brackets
3 x 2.4m gravel boards (again 1 had to be cut down)
Some wood treatment for any newly cut edges
Stainless steel screws in 1/4", 1" and 1 1/4" sizes
