Learn how to create unique curly earrings using polymer clay.

How to do:
To Begin with, take two complementary colors of polymer clay. Here I have used Bright green Pearl and Orange as first set, and Purple and Zinc yellow as a second set. Create Skinner blends on each set. After passing each set through the pasta machine over 15 times, I got the desired blend. After trimming off the edges, I randomly sliced my blended veneer and misplaced them. Then using a wax paper and roller, the new veneer was burnished.

Next using circle cutters, I randomly cut the circles and misplaced them as well. Using a wax paper, the new veneer is burnished again.

My veneer is now ready to be cut into any desired shapes. I have used a rectangle template from Sculpey templates for my earrings. Each of the shape is now placed on a thin sheet of black clay.

Take the rigid tissue blade now, tilt it by 45 degrees and keep thinly slicing the clay halfway through. Then hold the two opposite corner of the shape and pull it slowly apart, while trying to join the other two corners together thereby creating a beautiful curl.

Once the curl is ready, mount it on a cylindrical rod and bake the pieces as per the manufacturer’s instructions.

After the pieces are cooled, you can proceed to assemble the earrings. In my case, I have embellished my earring with a dab of gold paint and added a thin layer of resin on it.

Using my hand drill, I have pierced holes on the earring and added the jump ring and the earring post.
