Ford Electronic Returnless Fuel System Diagnosis (Part 1) - Ford
How to test a fuel pump on a 2000 Ford Taurus Electronic Returnless Fuel System. How to test a fuel pump driver module.
This is a unique fuel system, in that is does not have a fuel pressure regulator. Fuel pressure is controlled by varying the speed of the fuel pump motor. This is done by a device called a fuel pump driver module. This driver module receives signals from the engine computer which tell it how much pressure is desired. Something else unique to this design is the use of a fuel rail pressure sensor. One advantage of having this sensor is being able to viewing fuel pressure on scan data.
