Turbofan Engine Simulation | Aeroacoustics & Aerodynamics | SIMULIA of Dassault Systèmes
Fan noise is becoming a significant source of community noise in modern aircraft, due to an increase in bypass ratio, the reduction of jet velocities and the reduction of nacelle sizes. The capability to predict tonal and broadband noise from early design stages is instrumental for the development of quieter engines in the future.
SIMULIA PowerFLOW solver for fluid dynamics, based on a unique Lattice-Boltzmann approach, is able to accurately capture fan stage noise sources and predict the community noise linked to these sources. This video demonstrates some possible aerodynamics and acoustics analyses that can be performed on a fluid dynamics simulation of a fan stage using SIMULIA PowerFLOW.
