Can technology protect citizens’ wellbeing in a pandemic world?

In this virtual roundtable, which appeared live on Thursday 17 September 2020, a panel of experts convene to explore the role of smart cities in overcoming global threats, in light of the SUTD-IMD Smart City Index 2020.

Heng Chee Chan, Ambassador-at-Large with the Singapore Foreign Ministry and chairperson of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), moderates the session.

She is joined by Mayor of Helsinki Jan Pellervo Vapaavuori, Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister-in-charge of the Smart Nation Initiative Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Director of the IMD World Competitiveness Center Professor Arturo Bris and Bruno Lanvin, President of the IMD Smart City Observatory.
